Newsflow: The No.1 News Ticker App Reviews

A visually pleasing RSS news reader

This app provides a visually pleasing UI to read articles from various RSS sources. With this app it is easy to update and edit subscription list. The articles can be read as web pages, as summaries, or as optimized readable versions (like readability). However, the optimized readable version option takes some time to process each news. Both the navigation panel and the news reader window has translucency as evident on the sample picture previews. Those visual elements enhance the reading experience. However, I have two minor issues 1. The pinned left panel’s height does not stop at the taskbar. It goes below the taskbar and this behavior is not consistent with any other Mac apps I have used. There is no way to adjust the height of this panel either. I hope the developer would allow the users to adjust the height of this panel and make it consistent with the look and feel of a traditional mac app 2. The width and height of the news reader window is limited. The width can not be extended to fill the screen. Other than these two minor issues, the app is fantastic. It works brilliantly. Now, I do not bother to navigate multiple websites and ad ridden webpages to read news.

Good but needs small tweaks

Dark theme gives black-on-nearly-black, can’t un-dock main article list window, can’t even size it vertically. Otherwise, it’s an ok reader. Would prefer to have it in the menu bar or out of the way when I’m not in the mood for reading articles.

今のところ一番のRSSフィードアプリ / the Best rss feed app so far

Using this app via feedly. Great design that doesn’t bother much on my desktop, and very responsive. This is my best RSS news checking app so far :) It would be great to have extra functions like snackr (i.e. attaching app window horizontally & vertically, and manual-resizing news window size). Also, PLEASE kindly consider adding support for Pocket on Sharing!

Very good RSS Reader

One of the best RSS feed readers I’ve ever used!

Works very well, but ...

Links added from ifttt recipes, like "if Pocket then Feedly" or "if Instapaper then Feedly", dont appear in Newsflow, though these appear on the Feedly website.

とてもいいです〜

便利だし、きれいだし…but please have an auto hiding featrure… maybe also a menubar+click to show option… like notificaiton center?

Nice, but...

Hi, everything is nice. App looks great and works great. This app need auto hide and then will be perfect.

Nice RSS Reader

Nice App and really good and clean design but maybe is it possible to hide it like Notification Centre in Mac OS X or like Notification Bar in RSS Notifier? I dont want to see this app all the time in my desktop. So, only 4 stars for the moment. Thanx.

cool fast smart

Within last a few months I’ve been trying diff rss apps but found that one fastest one , smart & compatible with feedly etc services. Synchronization between works well on my Mac. TNX for doing!

Still some work to do

I like it but, Preferences pane for appearence is not working (doesn’t show up, just show the last one you have chosen). No hierarchy folders as imported from Feedly.

Almost perfect

I’d love two features: 1. Hide the icon from the dock 2. A widget for the notifications center Add them please!

So far so good

I’m new to RSS feeders but really like this due to the integration with feedly and the ability to segregate sources by tabs. Not really any complaints so far...

Looks good, but has bugs

Downloaded this on 13” MacBook Pro running Capitan 10.11.4, only had it downloaded for a few minutes before I uninstalled. For whatever reason, the cursor would get stuck as the “up/down” cursor as if I were resizing the window, forcing me to close the app and restart. If this had not happened, I would have kept the product as it runs great in every other way.

Annoying

Im happy with Leaf as my newsreader, but thought to try this app out and compare the features. Before actually using the app it seems to have wedged itself into my system, intercepting new feed subscriptions before I even ran the app! Thank you, but please ask before you change my settings to advantage yourself. And allow me to say Not Now. Now I cant seem to set it back to my old settings. Grrrr. Then, when I opened the app it started with some subscriptions that I certainly didnt want. AGAIN, how about asking? I can see subscribing me to your feed, but why the others? When I deleted the feeds, none of which interested me, the app blew up! No, not happy. Im deleting it. Back to Leaf!

So far, so good

I’m a recent Mac convert from Windows, and, of course, an Office user. I follow close to 100 blogs and was old school, in other words, I used the RSS function in Outlook to get my feeds. Unfortunately, that option is unavailable in Outlook for Mac, so I’ve been looking for a good RSS reader for a while. I purchased the RSS Reader on the APP store, and while the setup was easy, it hangs up all the time. Evidently, it wasn’t tested for having any more than 25 subscriptions. Setup is even easier on this app. I really like the fact that all I have to do is enter something like “artillery marketing” and it searches and gives me choices. With RSS feeder, you had to get the actual feed url (sometimes easy, sometimes not) and enter the url in. I haven’t entered all of my feeds yet, but so far so good. Love the interface. Most of all, I love the ability to immediately send the article somewhere directly from the app. I use Buffer to post things that would be important for my various social networks, and Evernote to stick articles in that I think might have actionable items in them for later review. In RSS Reader, (and by the way, back in Outlook) you have to go to the original article and then use a clipper to do those things. Only way I’d come back and change the number of stars, is if it can’t handle all of the feeds that I will eventually put in. Good work! Highly recommended, and well worth the money if you use it!

Simple, elegant and straight to the point.

For years i’ve searched for the perfect RSS reader that does the job and with Newsflow my search is over. I simply love it because it’s super elegant, neat, and easy to set up. Highly recommended.

very good

generally very good app. one bug: 1. use j,k to select next/prev article 2. and then use cmd+o to open in browser 3. this cmd+o never opens the currently selected article

I only miss one thing

The app is very simple, easy to use and has a very beautiful design. But there is one thing I miss: I wish I could see the news separated by source. For example: is there a way to see just the articles from Mashable? (I only could do that by typing “Mashable” on the search bar - wich I think it’s not the best alternative because I might forget the names of the websites I added as subscriptions).

Absolutely perfect!

Don’t hesitate, this is the greatest feed app that you can find in Mac, way better than feedly!

RSS Reading made easy and beautiful

Very impressed with Newsflow integration with Feedly service. The Newsflow UI is really beautifully done in light, semi-translucent and dark Yosemite-esque interfaces.
